Site Assessment and Preliminary Design: The nature-based solutions under consideration in the plan include among others: • Possible conservation easements if warranted • Ecological restoration areas • Removal of invasive species • Introduction of native plants and trees. • Design for a stormwater park with enhanced capacity that is designed to adapt based on sea level rise and tidal influences. The stormwater park plans may include: • Bioretention • Rain gardens that are also native gardens/butterfly gardens • Walking trails and boardwalks • Signage • Bird watching stations; Restoration Implementation: Following Site Assessment and Preliminary Design, a concrete plan for “Restoration Implementation” will be created. Deliverables from this stage of the project will include: • A plan for land acquisition, possible conservation easements if warranted, and design for a stormwater park with enhanced capacity that is designed to adapt based on sea level rise and tidal influences. • An understanding of how the SPINE restoration will help prevent streets from being shut down and compromising the fire department's response to the residents, tourists, and the Kings Bay nuclear submarine base (with whom they have a “mutual aid” agreement). • 100% understanding of permits needed...
