This project consists of drum chopping shrub dominated wetlands and one small site of scrubby flatwoods. The sites are primarily old agricultural fields that were all historically floodplain marshes and wet prairie. Most sites consist of deep organic soils that are saturated or flooded for portions of the year. Contractor will be responsible for supplying equipment suitable for operation in wet, low ground pressure conditions. Ground Conditions may become prohibitive in the ability to complete all available acreage. Target acreage will be 442 acres. Actual acreage to complete shall be calculated by the awarded cost per acre for the contract divided by the total contract budget. Chopper shall be a single drum a minimum of 42 inches in diameter by 7 feet in length and weigh at least 10,000 lbs. when filled with water. Chopper may be a spiral aerator/renovator type or conventional straight blade chopper (Equivalent to or exceeding a Lawson Ranch Worx® Series or Marden SB or SHPR series choppers). Chopper blades shall be 6 inches or more in height when measured from cutting edge to drum. The chopper must be filled with water. If blades are damaged, equipment must be shut down and repairs made before continuing work. Acreage chopped with unsatisfactory chopper blades will be redone at no additional expense to the District.
