The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University, by and on behalf of its School of Medicine (SIU SOM), is seeking proposals from qualified firms to modernize our approach to non-clinical faculty, administrative professional, and staff compensation. The study will address the internal compression and equity of salaries as well as determine whether the existing salary and compensation schedule is competitive with peer institutions. The university has a desire to formalize and structure compensation philosophy and activities that are aligned with market data and allow for equitable pay practices across all staff classifications. Existing and new compensation issues need to be addressed in a comprehensive and structured manner to achieve equity, balance, competitiveness and the opportunity for employee growth. Salary compression due to the steady increase in the Illinois minimum wage also needs to be addressed. To be included in the scope is: A complete review of the university’s current compensation policies, structures, and practices ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state and local regulations. A detailed report of the current compensation data with market benchmarks, including salary and incentive structures, with an internal or external compensation disparities identified. A recommendation of adjustments to enhance competitiveness and alignment with best practices. The awarded firm will make recommendations using the following as guidelines of the university’s intent, goals, and tasks.
