INTENDED USE: The unit proposed by bidders shall be configured to meet or exceed the following intended usage of said unit. The 550-gallon water distribution trailer is to be designed for multi-purpose use in both routine and emergency operations. Its primary functions are to include the transport and controlled distribution of water to remote locations for dust control, landscaping, washing equipment, and general water supply. Equipped with a fire suppression system, it is also to serve as a rapid-response unit capable of supporting initial fire attack efforts, controlling spot fires, and protecting assets during wildland and urban interface fire events. The unit is to be engineered for flexibility, durability, and quick deployment by trained personnel under varying field conditions. It is the responsibility of the bidder to review and scrutinize all aspects of the configuration of this unit including, but not limited to, engine size, transmission, axle weight rating, gear ratio, frame size, and suspension types being specified in this document. If necessary, the bidder shall recommend adjustments to the written specification so that the unit’s subsystems are adequate enough for this chassis to operate on a daily basis, fully loaded with all components, fuel and standard unmounted necessary tools needed for the unit’s daily tasks. This shall be accomplished without increasing maintenance costs, stressing the frame, or adding any unnecessary and/or abnormal wear to any other components of the unit, off or on-road throughout the City of San Francisco. It is the responsibility of the successful bidder to ensure this unit will comply or exceed compliance to all on-road and off-road safety and emissions standards set forth by the City of San Francisco, State of California, and the Federal Government.
