1. General: a. Visual Inspection - Visually inspect the overall condition of all units to identify foreign objects, loose or broken fittings, guards, and components. b. Wipe off the unit - Clean oil, coolant, fuel, and acid deposits, and inspect the generator area for any abnormalities. 2. Interior Wiring and Components a. Inspect all wiring and connections for signs of cracking, overheating, and deterioration. b. Check and tighten where necessary, all circuit wiring terminals. c. Check and tighten where necessary, all plug-in connectors. d. Check manual switches for free movement and contact continuity. e. Check common ground wires. Measure resistance in ohms. f. Check lug connections and mounting hardware. g. Perform a millivolt test on ATS’s main contacts and document. 3. Mechanical Checks a. Tighten all bus connections (normal, emergency, and load). b. Inspect main contacts (clean and burnish where necessary). c. Inspect arcing contacts (clean and burnish where necessary). d. Check the length of linkage. e. Check motor mounting hardware. f. Check heim joints. g. Check interlock rod. h. Check handle bracket for free movement. i. Lubricate all necessary mechanical parts.
