The following is a list of the most common areas of practice required by the Authority but is not exhaustive. Assignments may include but are not limited to: policy development; review and/or drafting of various legal documents, briefs, memoranda or opinions; negotiations; litigation; research; advice and counsel; and other related duties requested by the Authority. • Municipal Law: statutory review, construction and analysis; open records and open meeting laws; ethics requirements and counseling; and intergovernmental agreements • Procurement Law: public competitive procurement requirements and the Authority’s Minority and Woman owned business enterprise utilization program. • Construction and Commercial Law: construction/development contract drafting and negotiation; construction/development finance; performance bonds; insurance products and professional liability; contractor claims and payment disputes, mechanics liens, construction mediation and litigation. • Utilities: experience with the gas and electricity markets, pricing, regulations, and contractual requirements. • Tort Defense: personal injury, premises liability, third-party criminal liability defense, and third-party insurance issues. • Employment and Labor: employment litigation, local, state and federal; training, employment audits and compliance reviews; human resource advice and counseling; labor relations and collective bargaining negotiation, contract drafting; arbitration, mediation, unfair labor practice defense; and immigration.
