Preparation of Asphalt Paving Surface 2.1 Before asphalt installation, the surface of the pavement and curb shall be cleaned of all debris by sweeping and other methods as necessary. Tack shall be applied to existing pavement in accordance with current SCDOT specifications. This work is incidental to HMA paving items. 3.0. Rate of Asphalt Application 3.1 The County shall be able to direct the contractor to adjust the rate of application, if necessary, to meet the required thickness. 3.2 The County can stop work if the lift proposed thickness is not being met. Should the contractor continue to work, all asphalt placed after notification will be removed and replaced at the contractor's cost. 4.0 Work Schedule 4.1 The Contractor will submit a two week “look ahead” schedule to the project administrator each week, no later than Wednesday at Noon. This “look ahead” will provide proposed work for the upcoming two weeks and will be utilized to deploy appropriate county resources and provide notification to the public. 5.0 Driveways 5.1 Driveway tie-ins shall be paved in a fashion that ensures a smooth transition, of not more than 10% (preferably 5% when grade allows).
