The CSU Maritime Academy (CSUM) and Cal Poly (CPSLO) in conjunction with the California State University (CSU) are soliciting proposals from qualified firms interested in providing construction inspection services related to construction of the Boat Basin & Pier Extension Project (BB&PE) at the current : the design and build-out of an enlarged pier structure to support the arrival of the National Security Multi-Mission Vessel V (NSMV-V), a larger, multi-purpose training ship shared between the University and MARAD. With the planned integration of the two universities on July 1, 2025, this is a joint effort between the campuses as well as the CSU team to deliver the project. With the CSU being the authority having jurisdiction, this position plays a key role in not only code compliance and documentation of the project, but quality assurance as part of the project team. SCOPE OF SERVICES: The Service Provider shall provide inspector(s) that are required to complete the project and to meet the requirements of the university. It is important to understand the role of any personnel assigned to the project(s) shall follow that project to completion. The Service Provider shall coordinate equipment information, construction standards, and operational requirements furnished by the university. The Service Provider will also attend weekly project progress meetings. The project is anticipated to start in July 2025 and conclude no later than April 2027. In-water work will be performed during the approved in-water work windows July 1 – November 30, in 2025 and 2026. CONSTRUCTION PROJECT SCOPE AND INFORMATION: Construction consists of the installation of a new pier, wave screen, mooring dolphins, and catwalks to connect to the existing trestle. Some landside improvements to the existing utilities, including relocating and adding to the electrical switchyard, and infrastructure are required. It is anticipated that construction will start at the beginning of July 2025 and may continue in phases through the end of April 2027.
