The attenuator shall be FHWA tested and approved to meet the MASH test level 3 criteria (62.5). The attenuator shall have been subject to MASH test 3-50. 3-51, 3-52, 3-53, and occupant ride-down acceleration limits (G's) must be in the preferred range of FHWA guidelines. The trailer axle shall be designed for highway speeds, heavy duty torsion suspension type, mid-mounted within the unit. The tires shall be of the proper load range and designed for highway speeds. The unit must have and anti-rotational system to prevent it from rotating to the side or detaching from the host vehicle in an offset angles impacts, test levels 3-52 and 3-53. The unit shall be rated for use with a host vehicle of 10,000 pounds or greater. No host vehicle modification required. The anti-rotational system shall allow the unit to act like a normal trailer when being towed. HITCH The unit shall have a height-adjustable hitch and be capable of attaching to and rated for use with the standard NH DOT pintle hook (Holland, Model PH-30RP51, 30,000#). Pintle height of 26", and includes a " thick x 32" wide steel plate. Safety chains shall be included. LIGHTING The unit shall have a trailer lighting assembly per FMVSS No. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment".
