1. General - Routine Maintenance: The work will consist of managing the landscape of multiple Yuma County and Sheriff's Office buildings. The landscape consists of grass, shrubs and trees. The type of work includes: mowing grass, trimming shrubs and trees, pickup/removal of weeds and trash, fertilization and re-seeding. It also includes setting irrigation times and repairing sprinklers damaged to avoid disruption to plant growth. The scheduling of work shall be such that the landscaping maintains a neat appearance year around. The proposal shall include visits to the sight to review and discuss issues. The work includes furnishing all supplies, material, labor, tools, transportation and equipment necessary to maintain the areas as described herein. The contractor shall provide the County with names and telephone numbers of all on-call supervisory personnel. These on-call supervisory personnel shall assist the County project owner in making random onsite inspections and in coordinating other operation requirements. 2. Trash, Debris, Manual Weed Removal, and bottom tree trimming: The trash, debris, spot treatment and weed removal shall occur twice per month for the entire property. All unpaved areas outside of the grass areas, but within the property boundaries, shall be cleared of weeds and other undesirable vegetation. Debris shall be removed from perimeter fences. Trees that are in parking lots or walking areas should be bottom trimmed to have at least a 10 foot clearance with the ground. Trash shall be picked up manually or using a blower. A blower can be used to clean paved and concrete areas. All trash, debris and weeds are to be disposed of in a landfill accepting such waste. Any costs involved with use of landfills shall be the Contractor's responsibility. Include a cost for pre-emergent herbicide treatment for grass and weeds for all areas that have landscaping rock or unpaved. 3. Watering: Use existing irrigation system. Watering of grass areas shall be at intervals necessary to maintain a uniform healthy and sturdy growth. 4. Mowing and Edging: Grassed areas are to be mowed, edged and trimmed so as to keep the landscape in neat appearance twice per month. The grass is to be mowed and maintained between 1" and 3" at all times unless otherwise approved through a contract amendment. No grass should be allowed to encroach on surrounding sidewalks or walkways and is to be removed or cut back from encroachment. 5. Sprinkler/Irrigation System Adjustment and Repair: The sprinkler/irrigation systems are to be operated by the contractor in the manner in which it was designed to function. Repairs to damaged parts because of landscaping work is to be the financial responsibility of the contractor. Adjustments and repairs to the system are to be performed as necessary to keep the system maintained and operational. All deteriorating, damaged and worn parts are to be replaced as necessary. Sprinkler systems shall be maintained in a condition that provides maximum coverage of the landscaped basins. Overlapping of sprinkler ranges is required to obtain maximum coverage. Systems shall be checked and adjusted periodically to prevent over spraying and creating a nuisance and/or damage to surrounding private property owners. For repairs or improvements to irrigations systems, the contractor must submit a proposal that includes material and labor. Include labor rate and material mark-up (%) on Exhibit A.
