Several current park amenities are in poor condition, and many site features do not meet the present needs of the community or the accessibility requirements. The proposed site improvements project includes an upgraded play area, multi-sport tennis & pickleball courts, basketball court, ball field improvements, flexible use open spaces, public art, and pathway enhancements. The work will also include but not limited to stormwater management strategies, irrigation, tree protection, and potential utility upgrades. The purpose of this project is to update various site elements around the site. This will include improving existing circulation to be ADA accessible throughout the site. In addition, the existing courts (tennis & basketball) would need to be updated. The basketball court also requires some development to convert it to a full court, add new hoops, and associated site amenities like benches, water fountains, and shade. There are two ball fields adjacent to Prior Ave N. that require stormwater improvements, irrigation, and new player benches and backstops. Improved open flex space will help facilitate community events. The open space is currently located adjacent to the playground, skatepark and the paved area in the SE corner of the building. The intent is to create flexible community spaces that can be programmed for various events and celebrations.
