The drinking water system contains 37 of the 46 storage assets owned and operated by the District. These tanks and basins are a critical part of the water distribution network providing drinking water to customers throughout El Dorado County. These assets provide water storage and supply, balance volume for periods of differing demands, and allow for operational flexibility of the drinking water system to ensure a reliable water supply. Table 1 below summarizes each asset within the drinking water system including the year of construction, the type of construction and the most recent major maintenance event. The recycled water system contains four welded steel storage tanks. These tanks receive treated effluent from two wastewater treatment facilities: Deer Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (DCWWTP) and El Dorado Hills Wastewater Treatment Plan (EDHWWTP). Similar to the drinking water system, these recycled water tanks are used for storage and supply balance volume for periods of differing demands. Recycled water is used for irrigation throughout western El Dorado County in applications such as golf courses, commercial properties and dual plumbed home irrigation systems.
