1. The resilient wedge gate valves shall fully comply with the latest revision of AWWA C509, and shall also be UL listed and FM approved. The valves shall be tested and certified to ANSI/NSF 61. AWWA C515 reduced wall valves are not acceptable. 2. The valve shall have a 350 psig working pressure. Each valve shall be factory seat tested to 350psig and shell tested to 700psig. 3. The valve type shall be NRS (non-rising stem), and have one of the following end connections depending on the application and as specified by the utility. 4. a. Flanged ends with dimensions and drilling complying with ANSI B16.1, class 125. b. Mechanical joint ends complying with ANSI/AWWA C111 c. Mechanical joint by Flanged tapping valves with an inlet flange complying with ANSI B16.1, class 125 drilling and with MSS SP-60. MJ end shall comply with ANSI/AWWA C111 The valve shall open left and have an arrow cast on the operating nut or hand wheel indicating the opening direction. The bolt that attaches the operating nut to the stem shall be recessed into the operating nut so as not to interfere with valve wrench operation. The operating nut shall be painted black. The number of turns to open 3" through 12" valves shall be as follows: 3" = 11, 4" = 14, 6" = 20.5, 8"= 26.5, 10" =33, and. 12" = 38.5. 5. The valves shall have bolts and nuts for the operating nut, stuffing box and bonnet consisting of type 316 stainless steel.
