Chemical Fume Hood Verification Specifications Contractor shall perform the following: A. Annual verification of Chemical Fume Hoods (CHF): Variable Air Volume (VAV) and Constant Air Volume (CAV) CFH. B. Annual chemical fume hood face velocity certification must adhere to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1450, ANSI/AHIA Z9.5, ANSI/ASSP Z9.5-2022 and must meet the MDH Laboratories Administration operational average face velocity of 80-110 fpm. C. Verify the Testing performance requirements listed below are adhered to. 1. Airflow visualization tests shall be conducted as described in the ANSI/ASHRAE 110-2016 and ANSI/ASHRAE 110-1995, Method of Testing Performance of Laboratory Fume Hoods; 2. Cross-draft testing; 3. VAV (variable air volume) response testing; 4. Tracer gas containment testing; and 5. Sash motion effects tracer gas containment testing. 1. Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) Certification Specifications A. The contractor must comply with the following: • Perform an annual BSC certification by an accredited field certifier/qualified personnel who have completed National Sanitation Foundations (NSF) enhanced Biosafety Cabinet Field Certifier Accreditation. See the schedule of required maintenance below: • Perform procedures that must comply with standards in the most current Edition of Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL) for annual performance testing, inspection and on- site certification of BSCs – refer to: Annex F of NSF/ANSI Standard 49-2018, and any future versions which cover field testing of BSCs.
