OPERATION The circuit switcher shall form a complete switching unit for the transformer, providing for load and magnetizing current switching and fault current interruption. Interruption is to occur without visible arcing. Circuit breaking shall be performed by the circuit switcher's interrupters followed by circuit isolation by the disconnect blades. Circuit closing may be performed inside the interrupter or by the disconnect blades. The circuit switcher shall be operated by a motor operator arranged for shunt trip. The operating mechanism shall operate both the disconnect switch and the interrupting unit. The operator shall have the following options: Solenoid switch, heaters including a means of monitoring heater operation, electric operation counter, and "OPEN-CLOSE" pushbuttons. When circuit closing is performed by the disconnect blade, the switch operator shall close the blade swiftly to minimize the prestrike period so that restrike does not occur. The disconnect blade, or operating mechanism, shall employ a means to prevent the blade from inadvertent closing. Provide a de-coupler for manual operation with electrical interlock, hand crank, and padlock provisions. The trip and closing circuits and motor operator shall be for 125 volts, 30-amp maximum D.C. operation. Thermostatically controlled mechanism housing heaters shall be connected for 240-volt single phase A.C. operation. The trip and close functions shall be brought to identified terminal strips in the motor operator to provide connections for a remote control switch and protective relaying. MOUNTING AND PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS The circuit switcher shall have horizontally mounted interrupters. The circuit switcher shall be supplied with a galvanized steel support structure designed to be mounted on the specified foundations and anchor bolts with leveling nuts. The “bus side” of the device will be used as tubular bus support and the terminals must be 21’-0” above the bottom of the steel support structure with a 10’-0” phase spacing. The foundation and anchor bolts will be supplied by others. See LES drawing 8954 for typical anchor bolt layout. INSULATORS All insulation between energized parts and ground shall be light grey standard station post porcelain insulators and shall meet or exceed the electrical and mechanical requirements of Technical Reference Number 286.
