It is recommended that every state agency maintain an EAP program which contains these minimum standards, which are based on International Employee Assistance Professional Association core technologies. Provide access to professional EAP services for employees and their household. Consult with, train and assist agency leadership (managers and supervisors) seeking to provide early intervention and pro-active assistance to employees with medical, behavioral or job performance issues; enhance the work environment; and strengthen employee job performance. Promote EAP services to employees. Provide confidential and timely problem identification/assessment for employees and their household. Refer employees to community resources or healthcare providers for diagnosis/treatment. Establish and maintain effective relationships with healthcare and other service providers, including EAP vendor(s) and the statewide EAP Advisory Committee. Evaluate the effectiveness and utilization of EAP services. Coordinate response to critical incidents and provide stress debriefing.
