The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a third-row operator select thinning of approximately 245 acres of a 16-year-old slash pine plantation on the City of Williston Airport in Levy County, Florida (see attached maps). The plantation is broken up into 4 units. Timber to be removed in all units is every third row, with operator select thinning in remaining rows. Trees in the select rows to be removed include diseased, deformed, defective, forked and suppressed trees along with a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the target basal area of 40-50 square feet per acre. The estimated pine pulpwood/mulchwood volume to be removed is 5,800 tons. Boundaries of the sale areas are forest type changes, roads, fences and firelines. This sale is being conducted on an airport facility.
