The work consists of an athletic field re-construction involving removing the existing vegetation and soil, replacing the rootzone with a better performing material, and reestablishing the natural grass areas. The installation of a irrigation system is an add alternate. All work must be completed using low ground pressure (<8 PSI) equipment, This work includes, but is not limited to the following: 1. Strip and remove existing vegetation, 2” total. 2. Strip and remove the existing rootzone to a depth of 9”. 3. Install a 4” perimeter drain around the asphalt play area. 4. Re-grade subbase material to establish a 1.5-2.5% positive slope towards the perimeter of the field. 5. Install an irrigation system (add alternate) 6. Spread a shim/drainage layer of 2” of coarse sand across the site. 7. Finish grade the shim layer with a 1.5% - 2.5 % slope towards the perimeter of the field/play area. 8. Spread the imported sand based rootzone across the sand shim layer. 9. Application and incorporation of rootzone conditioners and nutrients. 10. Final grade rootzone to agreed gradients, 1.5% - 2.5% running from the center of the field towards the perimeter. The Subbase, Shim and Rootzone layers must all mirror each others slope, to ensure a consistent growing environment. 11. Seeding of prepared athletic field surface including turfgrass maintenance period and guarantee. Note: the site has a slight grade from West to East. In the event that grading from the center of the field outwards is not feasible, the site should be graded toward the perimeter drain.
