17-3.01 GENERAL Section 17-3 includes specifications for tree removal. 17-3.02 MATERIALS Not Used 17-3.03 CONSTRUCTION 17-3.03A General Remove and dispose of trees shown. Dispose of trees under section 17-2.03D. Trees, including trunks, branches, stumps, roots and objectionable material, must be completely removed. Backfill holes resulting from tree removal under section 19-3. Restore the site to a condition suitable for its intended use. 17-3.03B Small Trees For trees with a trunk diameter of less than 16 inches, measured at breast height (DBH), remove the entire tree using manual or mechanical methods that minimize disturbance to surrounding vegetation and infrastructure. Remove the entire root system unless otherwise directed by the engineer. 17-3.03C Medium Trees For trees with a trunk diameter between 16 and 24 inches DBH, remove the tree using appropriate mechanical equipment to ensure safety and protect adjacent trees and structures. Grind the stump to a depth of at least 12 inches below grade, remove all debris including roots, and dispose of materials as specified.
