➢ Construct 4’x4’x4’ wall mockup at construction site. Mockup to be placed on 4” pad. Section will include column and 2’ of brick wall. Will not include stone cap. Mock up to be used to confirm stucco coat color, brick ledge for monument bricks, brick selection and mortar selection. Mockup to remain on site during construction and be removed at project completion. ➢ Grade and excavate existing soil at project site location, stockpile spoils onsite to be used as needed for backfill. Remove and dispose of existing shrubbery. Excavate for wall footer and place subbase for new walkway. ➢ Place and tie reinforcing steel rebar for footer and wall. Pour and place concrete footers. Form, place and brush finish concrete 4” walkway. Tie walkway into existing sidewalk with perpendicular curb ramp and ensure walkway compliance with ANSI A117.1. Pour and place concrete slab for foundation of Gold Star Monument. ➢ Construct approximately 130’ of CMU wall at a height of 6’. Wall reinforcement to include #5 vertical at 48” O/C. Joint reinforcement at 16” O/C. Bond beam at first, mid and top course with 2 each # 5 horizontal. Lay brick on face of CMU wall, running bond with metal ties, create inlay area for engraved memorial bricks placement. Parge coat rear of CMU wall and stucco coat front and sides of CMU columns. Install granite cap on columns and wall. Exclude engraved bricks from bid. ➢ Install backer road and flashing under wall caps. ➢ Install Sika wet stop and leak master or equivalent at wall and walkway joint. Seal and waterproof embedded fixtures and penetrations. ➢ Rig and place existing gold star monument on new concrete slab. Protect Gold Star Monument throughout construction.
