Contractor shall be responsible for providing necessary labor and equipment to prepare existing surface prior to laying asphalt, including hauling off of excess material. Unit price shall be based on a 1 ½ -inch layer of asphalt and tack coat. Mill cut 1 ½-inches deep when matching new asphalt surfaces to existing asphalt surfaces at beginning and end and at cross streets, alleys and curbs. Milled areas must be marked with reflective cones. Mill all roadway surfaces 1 ½ inches deep prior to overlay. The city would like to retain the millings and will provide a location for collection. Include Glaspave in cost per ton and fiber in cost per ton. Transitions from new to existing surfaces at cross streets, alleys and curbs should not exceed 5% slope. It may be necessary to extend new paving into side streets to maintain a smooth transition. Provide 10-foot radius at cross streets and 5 foot radius at alleys and drives.
