Scope of Services (Geotechnical Testing Services) Earthwork: 1. Observe and/or test soil during earthwork activities including excavations, fills and backfill for compliance with Section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 2. Classify materials as satisfactory or unsatisfactory, and quantify removal of any unsatisfactory material as needed, for compliance with Section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 3. Provide sub-grade inspections for compliance Section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 4. Verify and quantify rock excavation, as needed, for compliance with Section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 5. Verify and quantify unsuitable soils, as needed, for compliance with Section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 6. Perform proof rolling of exposed subgrades to verify stability once finished grade is established in cut areas, and prior to placing fill where grades are being raised. 7. Provide compaction testing of fill materials for compliance with Section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 8. Verify impervious fill to be used for clay liners in stormwater ponds for compliance with Section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. Asphalt Paving: 1. Perform proof rolling of finished subgrade to verify stability prior to placement of stone base. 2. Provide stone compaction tests for compliance with section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 3. Conduct laboratory asphalt density and thickness testing for compliance with section 32-12-16 ‘Asphalt Paving’ of the specifications. Concrete Paving: 1. Perform proof rolling of finished subgrade to verify stability prior to placement of stone base or concrete pavement. 2. Provide stone compaction tests for compliance with section 31-20-00 ‘Earth Moving’ of the specifications. 3. Perform slump, air content, temperature, and compressive strength tests for compliance with section 32-13-13 ‘Concrete Paving’ of the specifications. 4. Provide slump, air content, temperature, compression and compressive strength tests for compliance with section 03-30-00 ‘Cast-in Place Concrete’ of the specifications. 5. Coordinate with the skatepark contractor on the specific concrete requirements for the skatepark (All Wheels Park) area.
