Following are core program design elements for the Project: • Auditorium o Approximately 250-300 seats (with raked elevation if site conditions allow). o Comfortable seating is a priority. o Rows closest to the stage may be movable (alternate cost to be provided). o Elevated stage with window wall at rear of stage to take advantage of the dramatic view of the marsh and Kiawah River. o Excellent acoustics suitable for spoken-word events, acoustic instruments, as well as amplified performances. o Ability to “tune” the room. o Minimal interference from outside noise. o Built-in microphone inputs, speakers, mixer and sound equipment. o Noise reduction HVAC. o Lighting grid and equipment with easy access for hanging and focusing. o Curtains for masking and backdrop. o Film/video projection capabilities. High-quality projector and screen for front projection. o Strong Wi-Fi signals. o Storage for 7’ grand piano. o Two backstage dressing rooms with bathroom(s). o Storage capabilities (sound, extra lighting, cables, small sets, props, costumes, rolled up dance floor). • Multipurpose Community Room(s) o Community meeting room space with sink and catering staging (possibly hidden behind sliding door). o Moveable chairs and tables with storage room. • Foyer/Lobby Area o Glass curtainwall design. o Wall space for art and educational/historic information. o Sized to hold audience in lobby before performing space is ready. o Restrooms for entire auditorium capacity. o Volunteer/Staff storage room (coats, purses, etc.). o Space for mobile bar and catered food purchase (including storage). • Loading dock with ability to load directly onto the stage. Include parking for bus/truck • All utilities (plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire, security) o Respondents are to assume water and sewer hookups are available. • Geotechnical engineering and subsurface investigation • Parking/Site Plan (pervious surface for additional parking preferred) The overall size of the wing addition, including all interior elements, is anticipated to be approximately 12,000sf. The community meeting room(s), ideally one dividable space, should be able to accommodate 40-60 seated in a larger combined space and 16-20 in a hollow square format in a smaller divided space.
