● General Interior: o Updated kitchen and restrooms. o The flooring and interior walls should be updated or replaced; some walls may be moved to allow for the reconfiguration of the interior space. ● Reading Area: Reading Area that provides a comfortable and welcoming space. Modular furniture to allow for reading, working on laptops, etc. ● Adult Services: Stacks that are adequate for print materials and provide acceptable shelving for growth of the collection. ● Young Adult Services: Stacks that are adequate for print materials and provide acceptable shelving for growth of the collection. Seating and workspace that is suitable for the intended audience. ● Children Services: Children’s Area to include stacks, seating, computer stations, story area (storage, puppet theater, SMART Board, etc.). The children’s area should be flexible for multiple uses and arrangements. ● Stage/Performance Area: Preserve the existing stage or provide alternative performance space. ● Staff and Circulation Services: The circulation desk should be configured for maximum visibility to all areas of the building. A staff workroom should include employee work stations, a break area, and a staff restroom. ● Building Services: o All areas must be ADA-compliant. o HVAC: Replacement of existing HVAC is necessary to the renovation. o Plumbing: Upgrading of existing plumbing is necessary to the renovation. o Electrical/Lighting: Upgrade electrical and lighting to provide increased energy efficiency. o Technology: Upgrade/Improve technology (wired and wireless) throughout the building. A data/network room should be provided. ● Meeting Spaces: Spaces that are adequate size for small groups (up to five people). ● Safety: Entrances/exits that allow for at least two options for leaving any particular area. ● Storage: Reconfigure existing spaces to provide storage space for supplies and furniture. ● Roof and Ceiling: Replacement or improvement of current roof. The roof line for a portion of the facility will be lifted to accommodate seating or office space on the second floor. Modifications may be needed to the ceilings to allow for noise management. ● Exterior: o The exterior will have improvements to include additional hardscape and landscape to create an outdoor programming space for storytimes or meetings. The hardscape will not extend to cover the utility access points present.
