The St. Johns Fire District (“District”) is soliciting qualifications from general contractors licensed in the State of South Carolina to provide professional construction management at risk services (CM-R) for a 10,000 square foot +/- new fire station at 4550 River Road in Johns Island. The CM-R firm must have an active BD-5 General Contractor’s License through the South Carolina Licensing Board. The existing Fire Station 5 sits on approximately five (5) acres on River Road on Johns Island. The current site has a two-bay fire station, a multi-unit garage, a two-story steel training prop, a three-story wooden training structure, and several small storage buildings. The existing fire station was built in 1991 and is approximately 4,000 square feet in size. The intent of this project is to construct a new fire station, a larger training facility, storage improvements, and site improvements. The new fire station will accommodate ten (10) sleeping beds, separate showers, restrooms, and two (2) double-deep apparatus bays. The new building must accommodate a training classroom with capacity for at least twenty-five (25) individuals.
