Task 1 - Geotechnical Engineering and Design Services The Consultant shall provide 100 hours of geotechnical engineering services to support the planning, design, and construction of various municipal utilities projects. Services under this task may include reviewing existing geotechnical reports, topographic and geologic maps, and other relevant background data. The Consultant will be expected to coordinate with Underground Service Alert (811). Subsurface soil sampling, standard penetration testing and laboratory analysis will be conducted to evaluate soil properties. Results from field and laboratory testing shall be used to prepare boring logs, soil profiles, and geotechnical reports which include engineering analysis and design recommendations. Assessments may include but not be limited to bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, pavement section design, etc. Task 2 - Pavement Evaluation and Design The Consultant may need to perform 80 hours of pavement condition assessments, coring and subgrade evaluation to determine pavement structure, material properties, and overall condition. In addition, depending on field observations and engineering analysis, the Consultant shall prepare design recommendations for pavement sections that meet project City standards. This may include full-depth reclamation, overlay design, trench restoration details and recommendations for materials and compaction. Typical deliverables may include pavement design, cross-sectional details and technical memos. Task 3 - Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection The Consultant may be asked to perform 120 hours of on-call geotechnical observations, material testing and special inspections. This work may include but not be limited to field and laboratory acceptance testing of construction materials such as asphalt concrete, Portland cement concrete, aggregate base, and subgrade soils to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable standards. Typical field services may include density and moisture content testing of compacted materials, concrete sampling and slump test, asphalt core sampling, and observation of foundation excavation prior to placement. The Consultant shall perform special inspection services as required by the project scope. These may include inspections during structural welding, masonry construction, epoxy anchor installation, anchor pull testing, etc. The Consultant is expected to provide certified personnel with appropriate credentials and services shall be performed in accordance with governing building codes and project specifications to ensure construction quality and code compliance. This task also includes acceptance testing for the City of a variety of construction materials, including but not limited to, asphalt concrete, aggregate base, subgrade, concrete, and more as required by the project plans and specifications. Task 4 - Geotechnical Review Services The Consultant shall provide 30 hours of professional geotechnical review services on an as-needed basis to support City staff during planning, design and permitting phases of various projects. This may include technical review of geotechnical and soil reports prepared by others, grading and foundation plans, slope stability analysis and supporting calculations. The Consultant is expected to review submitted documents and verify that they are consistent with current codes, City Standards and accepted engineering practices. Deliverables may include review comments, marked-up plans or reports, review meetings, coordination calls, providing recommendations, clarifying technical interpretation, modifying geotechnical recommendations to meet City requirements or site constraints. Task 5 – Project Coordination and Meetings The consultant, will allow for 100 hours to participate in project coordination activities with City staff, design teams, and other stakeholders as needed throughout the duration of each task. This may include attending virtual or in-person meetings, preparing summary memorandum and responding to technical inquiries and provide clarifications related to geotechnical findings, tests results, or inspection observation.
