The networking system that is being replaced is a 48-site microwave and carrier ELIN network. 18 of those sites are core sites that carry bandwidth-limited traffic for four (4) distinct agencies. This core network is monitored and maintained by DESC, but DESC is merely one of the four entities on this network. The average speed of each link connecting the core network is 200 Mb / second. Currently this network runs on Cisco ME3800x switching routers using ISIS with a custom configuration and firmware. DESC wishes to replace these with Cisco Catalyst 9300 or similar running MPLS. DESC must have the ability to manage and change the permitted and committed information rates for each agency, which is currently designated at the port level.
