Facilitate reaching concurrence on University of North Dakota’s needs and the desired leadership characteristics for the new Dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Collaborate with the search committee to identify key stakeholder groups and organize listening sessions and focus groups to gather broad-based input that will inform the leadership profile; Organize and monitor the search process, including guidance of the Search Committee with the development of the position advertisement; assist the chair of the search committee with the creation of an advertising plan to support the search to be submitted and approved by the provost and UND HR; Consult, as reasonably requested, throughout the duration of the search. The timeline will be determined in detail and in consultation with the hiring authority and search chair and is subject to change; Identify and cultivate candidates with the assistance of the Search Committee and campus community and University of North Dakota stakeholders; In coordination with UND HR screen on minimum qualifications to identify qualified candidates to be shared with the search committee. Develop, in coordination with the Search Committee Chair, an efficient screening procedure to narrow the candidate pool to a group of finalist candidates; Collaborate with the Search Committee, in coordination with the Committee Chair, in identifying finalists from the pool of semi-finalists; Provide in-depth evaluations, including references, of the finalist candidates, as requested; to include an initial round of reference checking prior to the naming of the finalists; and a more in depth round of off-list reference checking in consultation with the provost on the candidate selected by the provost for an offer; Advise University of North Dakota regarding the structure of the finalist candidate(s) interviews and assist the University of North Dakota with coordination; Draft search correspondence, communications with the University of North Dakota community, and meeting agendas for the Search Committee Chair review and approval; and Provide guidance to the hiring authority to facilitate University of North Dakota making an offer to candidates.
