The project / construction will consist of drainage improvements consisting of infiltration ditches, grading improvements to the area, installation of 6” of aggregate base course (VA 21A), 3” of a bituminous asphalt pavement (BM mix), 3” of a bituminous asphalt pavement (VDOT 12.5A Superpave). The existing runway pavement will be milled to provide tie-ins to the existing runway pavement. The existing electrical lines that are located under the proposed pavement shall be installed in proposed concrete duct bank for access and protection. The project includes the removal of an existing Runway Edge Lights (MIRLs). The removal will be determined by the proposed pavement layout. A set of double blue lights will be installed at all new taxiway intersections with Runway 21. The Runway End Identifier Lights (REILs) for Runway 21 will also be relocated, due to the turnaround pavement and proper separation.
