The services consist of, in general, conducting bi-directional 72-hour traffic data collections for volume, speed, and vehicle class at approximately 300 locations throughout Butte County, CA. Data is to be provided in 1-hour time increments. A. Local Agency Permits/Approval: VERY IMPORTANT – Local jurisdictions are expected to have road work projects underway during the collection time frames. The consultant will review collection sites, work with local jurisdictions and BCAG staff to obtain the appropriate permits or written approval prior to placing collection equipment. BCAG staff will work with consultants and provide the appropriate contact for each local jurisdiction or arrange meetings with staff. Any fees applied by the local jurisdictions will be paid by BCAG. B. Data Collection: The consultant shall conduct three (3) day, 72-hour traffic data collections for volume, speed, and vehicle classifications. Collections are to be brokenout by day and into 1-hour time increments. Traffic data collections will be gathered for the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday period during the selected months of September-November (Fall 2025) and February-May (Spring 2026). Collections are not to be performed during special community events, holidays, inclement weather, major road construction, or other factors that will alter typical traffic conditions and patterns. Consultant will coordinate with BCAG staff prior to laying traffic data collection devices to ensure these factors will not be present during traffic counts. Consultant will provide a schedule of sites being collected, on a weekly basis, to BCAG staff during the collection periods.
