Conduct community-engaged research to explore impacts of casino gambling and/or sports wagering in Massachusetts. Community-based participatory research Team composition and the overall approach to the project should consider the principles of community-based participatory research (CBPR). CBPR focuses on social, structural, and physical environmental inequities through the active involvement of community members, organizational representatives, and researchers in all aspects of the research process. Partners contribute their expertise to enhance understanding of a given phenomenon and integrate the knowledge gained with action to benefit the community involved. CBPR shows promise as an approach that can be used to work toward the reduction of health disparities.[footnoteRef:6] [6: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2774214/ ] Deliverables: Final project deliverables will include: Report providing findings and recommendations, including a plan for how this project will build capacity for communities to conduct research; Public presentation of a report and recommendations shall be delivered to the community(ies) with whom the research took place; Public presentation of the final report and recommendations shall be delivered to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
