A. The Contractor shall furnish an Evergreen Wall, comprised of 12 large precast concrete crib type modular elements, incorporating an earth filled gravity wall concept. The wall units may either be plantable and therefore noise absorbing, or have an option for an architectural finish with a design approved by VDOT. Precast elements must be a minimum of 5,000 psi and must be steel reinforced. Precast elements must be a minimum of 40 square feet of wall face unless the design calls for smaller modified units. The Contractor shall provide a copy of engineer stamped drawings and calculations for the wall designs upon pick up of the wall units. Refer to Attachment A for drawing of a unit. B. All 12 wall units shall be ready for pick-up within 14 days of receipt of purchase order. The Contractor shall notify Michael Musick, (276) 791-1052 or (276) 889-7601, when the wall section is ready to be picked up. C. All wall units shall conform to Section 506 - Retaining Walls of VDOT's Road and Bridge Specifications, dated 2020 or latest edition, and Chapter 18 of the VDOT Manual of Structure and Bridge Division. At time of pick-up, an inspection will be conducted by VDOT of the wall units. Any deficiencies will be noted and brought to the attention of the Contractor. The Contractor shall promptly, within ten working days, and permanently correct any deficiencies at the Contractor’s sole expense prior to final acceptance of the products (reference Section X, Special Terms and Conditions #7). F. Descriptive literature shall be required to substantiate the details specified in the bid. If not provided with the bid, it shall be required within 48 hours of request from the VDOT Contract Officer (reference Section X, Special Term and Conditions #14).
