Contractor’s scope of work for the Decommissioning of hydraulic elevators shall include: a. Obtain and post a decommissioning permit from the AHJ. b. Removal of fuses from the existing mainline disconnect switch. c. Mainline switch shall be opened and the switch sealed with a padlock. d. A proper label shall be installed on the existing mainline disconnect switch to indicated where the power source is located and shall be disconnected / locked out at that point. e. Hydraulic oil shall be removed from the tank and from the oil line. Oil shall be disposed of properly in accordance with State and Local regulations. f. The hydraulic tank and piping in both the machine room and the pit shall be disassembled, removed from the property and disposed of as rubbish. g. All hydraulic jack assemblies shall be drained of oil, removed, and disposed of as rubbish. h. A company licensed to seal wells and borings in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Health, parts 4725.3850 and 4725.3875, must seal the borings into the earth and provide proof of the sealing to the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) and MBC. i. The elevator assembly and all related hardware in the machine room, hoistway, and pit shall be removed and disposed of as rubbish in accordance with State and Local regulations. j. All electrical wiring and equipment shall be removed from both lobby’s, hoistway, pit, and machine room and disposed of as rubbish. Including ducts, conduit, scavenger pump, and controller. k. Elevator guide rails and brackets shall be removed and disposed of as rubbish. l. Hoistway doors and all equipment related to the hoistway doors shall be removed and disposed of as rubbish.
