The Contractor is responsible for all site logistics. Contractor shall protect all areas around and under work areas as required, tarp etc. shall be placed under work areas to protect paved, lawn and landscaped areas from any fallen debris as required. The contractor shall restrict the area below and around work areas as required using approve barriers as required. The contractor shall not impede pedestrian traffic around site. The contractor is to remove the existing window caulking including any backer rods via their preferred method which may include scraping, pulling and cutting the existing caulking/backer rod. Once caulking/ backer rod has been removed the contractor shall clean joints of any dirt or old sealant residue, if necessary, gently sand down any remaining caulk remnants to create a smooth surface for the new caulk to adhere to. Joints must be cleaned out immediately before installing joint sealants to comply with joint sealant manufacturer’s written instructions. The contractor shall address any cracks or damage to the existing window frame as required before applying the new caulk. The contractor shall use an approved caulk and backing rod that is appropriate and compatible with the window material type and the window opening substrates. Caulking shall be a silicone base caulk for exterior use. Prior to applying/installing caulking, the contractor shall conduct mockup tests to confirm the caulk is compatible with the existing window frames and opening substrate.
