1. Employment Law: Representation of the College and its employees before the New Mexico Human Rights Bureau, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other venues regarding claims for wrongful termination, breach of contract, and discrimination. Advise College officials and represent the College with regard to the Family Medical Leave Act, the New Mexico Public Employee Bargaining Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other employment laws. 2. Higher Education Law: Advise College officials and represent the College and its employees in matters related to issues affecting higher education institutions, including but not limited to policy development and implementation, governance, Title IX, open meetings and IPRA, student discipline, First Amendment speech, FERPA, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. 3. Real Estate Transactions: Advise the College on New Mexico Real Estate Law issues including but not limited to: property leasing, purchasing, selling and renting. 4. Public Official Liability: Representation of the College and its officials, officers and employees in matters involving alleged violations of state and federal civil rights laws or other alleged unlawful or improper actions or activities. 5. General and Auto Liability: Defense of the College and its employees or agents in cases brought under the New Mexico Tort Claims Act or similar laws. This includes cases alleging negligence in the operation and maintenance of motor vehicles, storm water drainage, grounds, buildings, etc. 6. Training: Provide legal compliance training to leadership or other groups as requested.
