The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) requires a reliable, scalable, and survivable VoIP solution to replace its existing (obsolete) NEC telephony infrastructure at Charles H. Hickey School (CHHS), Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center (BCJJC) and Hilton Office facilities. The upgrade will provide modern supported communication infrastructure and better align DJS with updated telecom standards and facility stability. The project aims to deploy two (2) NEC SV9500SE and one (1) UG50 phone systems. The scope includes an overview of what the agency is requesting; installation, configuration, testing and the commissioning of new telecommunication systems at CHHS, BCJJC and Hilton Street. The statewide master contractors are encouraged to make recommendations and or corrections to this telecommunications project plan at the time of solicitation. Additionally, the project will address the decommissioning and proper disposal of the old phone systems. DJS currently has a NEC maintenance contract in place that provides best-effort support for the existing phone systems until 3/31/2026, with the contract ending on 06/30/2027 with the option to extend the contract until March 2030.
