Providing physical activity challenges through an online platform that syncs with fitness wearable devices will help UK Health & Wellness (UKH&W) motivate our UK community to be more active and adopt healthier lifestyles. Additionally, offering wellness challenges will support UKH&W in promoting healthier habits across various aspects of individual wellness, including nutrition, emotional and mental health, and self-care. Finally, evaluating the health and well-being of our UK community enables the identification of health risks, the creation of personalized plans, the direction to appropriate resources, and the tracking of progress. The University of Kentucky Health & Wellness programs extend to a diverse group of University employees (27,800), retirees (4,900), and spouses of employees/retirees (12,300) who are eligible to participate. Eligible University participants mainly work and reside in Fayette and surrounding counties, however there are employees in all 120 counties of the Commonwealth and about 300 employees living out of the Commonwealth working remotely / hybrid manner. The wellness platform that includes a customizable wellness portal, activity tracking and wellness challenges, and activity device integration, will be made available to eligible employees beginning October 1, 2025.
