• Selective Stone Removal and Resetting: o Carefully identify and remove loose, damaged, or deteriorated stone sections from the westside bridge wall as directed by the City’s representative. The Contractor shall exercise extreme caution to avoid further damage to surrounding stonework. o Clean and prepare the existing stone and the underlying substrate for resetting. o Reset the removed stone sections securely using new Portland cement mortar that matches the color, texture, and joint profile of the original mortar. o Dispose of any unusable stone debris in accordance with applicable regulations. • Existing Concrete Coping Removal (Westside): o Carefully remove the existing concrete coping along the entire 23-foot length of the westside bridge wall. The Contractor shall take precautions to prevent damage to the underlying stone structure during the removal process. o Dispose of the removed concrete coping off-site in an environmentally responsible manner. • New Concrete Coping Installation (Westside): o Fabricate and install new concrete coping with approximate dimensions of 4 inches thick by 24 inches wide by 23 feet long on the westside bridge wall. o The new concrete coping must be properly reinforced and securely anchored to the underlying stone structure. o The finish and color of the new concrete coping must be approved by the Department's representative to ensure aesthetic compatibility with the historic bridge.
