The contractor must be responsible for prepping the areas for floor cleaning as needed. Contractors must remove non-stationary items from flooring areas to be cleaned (furniture, file cabinets, and desk must not be moved). While it is the intent to clean all floor surfaces, the City of Suffolk reserves the right to add or delete from/to the designated areas. Any addition or deletion of designated area(s) to be cleaned will be compensated at the unit price provided. Contractors must use a nonabrasive liquid stripping solution and method to strip, seal, wax, and buff/burnish all uncarpeted VCT floors. Clean baseboards after stripping and waxing. Contractors must clean ceramic tiled floors with a scrubbing machine, brush clean using a sanitizing detergent, dry mop, and seal. The contractor must clean all carpeted areas. Carpeted areas that are heavily soiled must be spot treated prior to cleaning. Use a product specifically formulated to remove detergent residue and mineral deposits. Contractor must clean all terrazzo floor. Strip the terrazzo floor down to the original surface, cleaning as necessary, and sealing with a colorless, slip and stain resistant penetrating sealer. Provide surface finish with reflectivity and shine acceptable to the city. Apply a colorless, slip and stain resistant penetrating sealer. Clean dirt and coating build-up from the marble cove baseboards.
