A. 12-YEAR SERVICE - (All-Inclusive) 1. Provide twelve (12) year hydrostatic testing and chemical replacement for dry chemical fire extinguishers (type ABC). B. 6-YEAR SERVICE - (All-Inclusive) 1. Provide dry chemical fire extinguisher six (6) year maintenance (Type ABC). C. 5-YEAR SERVICE - (All-Inclusive) 1. Provide wet chemical five (5) year hydrostatic testing and chemical replacement (Type K). D. ANNUAL SERVICE 1. Fire Extinguisher Maintenance and Testing: a. Contractor shall perform an annual fire inspection/maintenance/repair on fire extinguishers listed in Section 3, Equipment, according to the guidelines in Section 5, Code of Compliance and Quality Assurance. This includes a thorough examination of the mechanical parts, extinguishing agent and expelling means of each portable fire extinguisher. b. Examine the mechanical parts, extinguishing agent and expelling means of each portable fire extinguisher. c. Provide yearly recharge* or inspection** as required for pressurized (stored pressure) fire extinguishers that have had its contents discharged. d. *Recharge – Complete annual service requiring disassembly, removal of all extinguishing agent, and internal inspection of shell, valve assembly, nozzle, hose, tubes, cartridge, etc., as applicable. e. **Inspection – A visual examination of the exterior of any portable fire extinguisher to determine apparent condition, checking gauges and weighting. f. Install new damper seals on rechargeable fire extinguishers. g. Perform hydrostatic testing. h. Fire extinguishers removed from service for maintenance or recharging shall be replaced by a fire extinguisher appropriate for the hazard type and rating. i. Each fire extinguisher shall have a tag or label securely attached that indicates the month and year the maintenance was performed, and that identifies the person performing the service. j. Each fire extinguisher that has undergone maintenance that includes internal examination or that has been recharged shall have a "Verification of Service" collar located around the neck of the container. The collar shall not interfere with the operation of the fire extinguisher. The collar shall include the month and year the service was performed, indicated by a perforation such as is done by a hand punch. E. SEMI-ANNUAL SERVICES 1. Ansul System Inspection, Maintenance, Parts Replacement: a. Replace metal fusible links. b. Remove corrosion from detection system components as applicable. c. Inspect the releasing unit to ensure it is functioning properly, and make any repairs necessary including replacing seals that are broken or missing. d. Inspect metal blow-off caps and clean, replace or repair to ensure they can be turned freely on the nozzle. e. Contractor shall ensure each tank and releasing unit is mounted in an area with a temperature range of 32 'F to 130 °F (0 'C to 54 °C). f. Contractor shall meet on-site with Contract Manager to verify all equipment to be serviced before inspections begin. g. Contractor shall place a service sticker on the equipment clearly stating the date of inspection/service, status of equipment, company name, and lead technician’s signature. h. Contractor shall perform all work after hours, when the kitchen is not in use. i. Contractor shall check and repair all wiring related to the system.
