III. DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK: Independent Contractor shall directly provide the products and installation for the safety gas monitoring of the below described areas, or the management/ oversight of any subcontractors to do the same. Electrical conduit can be reused if in good condition. All equipment should have SCADA integration capability. All existing equipment is to be removed and the contractor maintains all responsibility to organize the disposal of the units, as well as any wiring and conduits that will not be reused. The Facility’s dumpsters are not an acceptable option. Process Building Note, all three areas have sensors that route to a common control panel. • Sludge press room. This area shall have an audible alarm and visual beacon. This area shall monitor for LEL and H2S. These units should be rated Class II, Div II or better. • Sludge Thickening Room. This area shall have an audible alarm and visual beacon. This area shall monitor for LEL and H2S.These units should be rated Class II, Div II or better. • Sludge Pump Room. This area shall have an audible alarm and visual beacon. This area shall monitor for LEL, O2, and H2S. These units should be rated Class II, Div II or better. Grit Building • Audible alarm/ visual beacon inside and outside. This area currently has the control box located on the outside of the building. The mount outside is exposed to extensive UV light and should be protected. This area shall monitor for LEL and H2S, with the LEL sensor to be located at the grit washer level, and the H2S sensor to be installed at the lowest level. These units should be rated Class II, Div II or better. Primary Gallery Note, the internal A/V and external A/V to both East and West Stairwells should tie together, if possible. • West Stairwell. Outside has audible alarm/ visual beacon. This area shall monitor for LEL. The current sensor pulls air from lowest level and brings it to top of stairwell. These units should be rated Class II, Div II or better. • East Stairwell. Outside has audio/ visual alarming. This area shall monitor for LEL. The current sensor pulls air from lowest level and brings it to top of stairwell. These units should be rated Class II, Div II or better. • Gallery. Two each, audible alarm and visual beacons, to be tied to both stairwell sensors, positioned to have one or the other be seen/ heard from all locations in the gallery. These units should be rated Class II, Div II or better.
