This project is to convert the existing high-bay room D170 into research space to support both wet and dry bench research and a small amount of administrative space in support of the laboratories. The labs will be flexible in nature to accommodate future needs and changes in research. The wet research lab will include Chemical Fume Hoods. The dry bench research lab will be physically separated from the web research lab. To accommodate the proposed renovation, the existing D170 space will include a structured mezzanine of approximately 3,000SF (50’ x 60’). The mezzanine will be supported by structural steel columns reutilizing existing piers installed below the first-floor level. The mezzanine elevation will align with the current Level 2. All data cabling, card readers, termination and devices, as well as any new equipment (such as racks) in the new IDF room, will be by UNT vendor and are not part of this contract. Power and architectural finishes per the UNT design guidelines for the new IDF room are included in the scope of work.
