The District desires to receive proposals from qualified proposers for a turnkey solution for a School Bus Infraction Detection System. The District has over 200 school buses on daily routes, transporting more than 8,960 students to and from school, and driving more than 3,275,980 annual miles to 3,533 locations. Florida law prohibits a vehicle from overtaking or passing a stopped school bus that is displaying its stop signal and subjects’ violators to a $200 civil fine for a violation of Florida Statute §316.172 (1)(a) or (b). Florida Statute 316.173 authorizes school districts the ability to install and operate a school bus infraction detection system on school buses based solely on the need to increase public safety and to contract with a qualified vendor to do so on behalf of the School District for the purpose of recording violations of F.S. 316.172 (1)(a) and (b) and collecting fines, including administrative fees
