The Columbia County Board of County Commissioners is inviting proposals for an air ambulance service provider to construct, lease, and operate a “life flight” helipad and air ambulance service at the Columbia County Fire Station located on Lake Jeffery Road. The strategic placement of a helipad adjacent to the fire station will facilitate the direct transport of patients by ambulance to the helipad in situations where the helicopter is unable to access the scene. This arrangement will significantly enhance the speed of patient transport to medical facilities in Gainesville and Jacksonville. The Build-To-Suit Lease will pertain solely to the leasing of the site for air ambulance or "life flight" services, which the proposer shall be responsible for operating for the duration of the lease agreement. The Build-To-Suit Helipad should incorporate a driveway that allows Emergency Medical Services (EMS) access for patient transport, a fuel tank designated for the helicopter, a maintenance shed, a designated parking area, and a modular structure. Proposers interested in this opportunity will be responsible for constructing their own improvements at their own cost. All improvement permanently affixed to the real property shall be property of Columbia County, Florida, or its successor in title.
