Contractor will provide all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals necessary to mill and produce, haul, place, tack and compact approximately 4,913 tons of ¾” Commercial Plant Mix Grade S 58H-34 asphalt mix material. The first part of the overlay shall be paved from the end of the concrete at mile marker 2.9 to 3.4 @ .15 feet thick and approximately 75 feet wide. The second part of the overlay shall be paved from mile 3.4 to 3.8 @ .15 feet thick and approximately 26 feet wide. The third part of the overlay shall be paved from mile 3.8 to 4.25 @ .15 feet thick and approximately 60 feet wide. There are seven turn bays between MM 3.0 to 4.0 and the overlay shall be paved @ .15 feet thick and approximately 12 feet wide. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals necessary to produce, haul, place, roll and broom approximately 50,981.33 square yards of laid-in-place chip seal. The chip seal will be approximately 1.34 miles long. The first part of the chip seal shall be from mile 2.9 to 3.4 and 75 feet wide. The second part of the chip seal shall be from mile 3.4 to 3.8 and 26 feet wide. The third part of the chip seal shall be from mile 3.8 to 4.25 and 60 feet wide. There are seven turn bays between mile 3.0 to 4.0 and approximately 12 feet wide. The Contractor shall provide CRS-2P asphalt emulsion and Type 1 chips. The emulsion application rate for chip seals is estimated at .44 gallons per square yard. The cover material application rate is estimated at 25 pounds per square yard. Actual application rates will be based on the chip design and the actual field adjustments. If the cover material application rate of 25 pounds per square yard is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. Contractor must furnish a water truck for dust control and wetting of chips. Arrangements must be made by the Contractor for acquiring water for wetting and sweeping. Approximately 30% of the chip seal brooming removal and disposal will be required due to local businesses in the area. It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the centerline and place reflective tabs prior to the chip seal. The Department will provide final striping. Contractor shall be responsible for all private property damage claims resulting from performance of the tasks described above.
