The Headworks Building receives all the wastewater treated at the plant. There are three (3) Vortex Grit Basins operated for the purpose of removing grit from the wastewater stream before it travels through the treatment plant. Servicing each Vortex Grit Basin are two (2) Hayward Gordon, XR4-12 grit pumps, powered by 25 HP TECO-Westinghouse motors. The pumps are in the lower level “Grit Pump Room” and convey the grit to processing equipment on the ground floor “Residuals Processing Room”. The Headworks Building Grit Piping replacement will remove and replace the 4” ductile iron piping and all appurtenances from the discharge side of each pump to the first coupling/ joint through the sleeved opening to the “Residuals Processing Room”.
