The City of Palm Bay Public Works is releasing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to professional engineering firms for the design services of Malabar Road from St. Johns Heritage Parkway to Minton Road. The firm will use the FDOT approved Malabar Road PD&E study which is scheduled to be completed in June 2024 as the preliminary engineering to include the following: • Project Limits, • Preferred Preliminary Conceptual Alternative, • Preferred Typical Sections, • Environmental Assessment, • Cultural Analysis, • Intersection improvements – Traffic Signals and Roundabouts, • Drainage Analysis and pond site, • Structural improvements, The project scope is the design of Malabar Road from St. Johns Heritage Parkway to Minton Road which will include, widening from two to four travel lanes, 4 roundabouts, 3 signalized intersection improvements, added turn lanes at the intersections, drainage improvements, off-site ponds, median island, 8-foot path on the northside, three culvert replacements and one bridge replacement. The FDOT work items will include: Major Work: 3.2 Major Highway Design, 4.2 Major Bridge Design, 8.2 Design, Right-of-Way and Construction Survey; Minor Work: 7.1 Signing and Pavement Markings, 7.2 Lighting, 7.3 Signalization, 8.1 Control Surveying, 9.1 Soil Exploration, 9.2 Geotechnical Classification Lab Testing.
