The City of Richmond is now seeking artists to apply for up to four unique public art opportunities for the Main Library Renovation project, located at 325 Civic Center Plaza. After several years of community engagement, the Library Commission and Planning Committee identified several interior locations for possible large-scale art installations. This solicitation is for multiple interior-only projects in specific locations. The art mediums include wall mounted murals, bas relief and/or friezes and suspended sculptures. All work will be fabricated off site and installed by professional art vendors. All selected murals will be installed like wallpaper or on security mounted panels. Once the selection panel identifies art that fits into the budget and thematic direction, the City of Richmond will contract with a limited number of pre-qualified artists. Phase I: Interior wall mounted mural/frieze/bas relief and suspended sculpture (kinetic). Phase II: Existing available artwork to be solicited/selected at a later date to be determined.
