The work of this Contract consists of the plan review, issuance of a permit, inspection, and issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy specifically for Turnpike Toll Facilities, and the toll equipment buildings and ancillary structures that support the Turnpike Toll Facility (i.e. generators and fuel tanks, etc.). Buildings without toll equipment are permitted through the local agency having jurisdiction and are not part of this contract. Typically, toll equipment buildings are constructed of precast concrete and are 12 feet 6 inches wide by 21 feet long, with a 10 feet tall ceiling. Some toll equipment buildings may be smaller or larger in width, length, or height. Some Turnpike Toll Facilities may have utilized an existing building that is of a larger size but only one or two rooms are utilized for tolling equipment. These structures house the electronic equipment to collect and support the collection of tolls for the Department. Toll equipment buildings have extensive electrical distribution systems including a conditioned power system (UPS, etc.), backup generator system, extensive network cabling, telecommunications, a supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA), and a dual HVAC system, and other associated peripherals. The work shall consist of the receipt of the signed and sealed drawings from Engineering and Architectural firms; review of the plans for conformance with the Florida Building Code; approval of the plans and issuance of a permit for each Turnpike Toll Facility; inspection by qualified personnel with appropriate licenses/certifications to perform the inspections; and the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for each State Building Permit. Each Turnpike Toll Facility in a construction project will require a separate building construction, renovation, or demolition permit.
