Project consists of all labor, materials, equipment, appliances, services and incidentals necessary for layout, installing, and performing the site improvements at the UMass Gloucester Marine Station (GMS) located at 932 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA. The parcel is identified as MBLU 139-2 by the City of Gloucester, MA Assessor. The GMS is on an approximately 7.0 ± acre peninsula roughly bounded by Ipswich Bay to the north, Hodgkins Cove to the south, and Washington Street to the east. The proposed work consists of four priority site improvements needed at the Gloucester Marine Station: 1) Installation of a 5 ft by 25 ft (125 sq ft) timber boat dock with driven timber piles and a 2-ton capacity, land-based crane with a 15 ft boom arm. 2) Seawall repairs and improvements, including the addition of living seawall habitat panels along the existing seawall. 3) Redevelopment of a 17,000 sq ft (0.39 acres) open area as a flexible teaching and research space, including the addition of landscaping, seating areas, and shade structures. 4) Fenced outdoor storage area. The scope of work, without limiting the generality thereof, includes all labor, materials, equipment and services required to perform the work described fully in the Drawings and Specifications and includes, but is not limited to the following major work: 1. Demolition and removal of existing pavement, foundations, subbase material, and utilities within the limits of work. 2. Installation of new stormwater structures and piping. 3. Installation of new electrical conduits, wiring, and receptacles. 4. Structural reparations to the seawall, including the installation of living seawall panels. 5. Installation of marine piles and boat dock. 6. Installation of heavy-duty asphalt pavement connecting the existing driveway to the heavy-duty concrete outdoor work area. 7. Installation of heavy-duty concrete outdoor work area. 8. Installation of land-based crane with a 15’ boom arm and crane foundation. 9. Installation of primary and secondary outdoor teaching areas, including reclaimed granite seating blocks, stairs, pavers, and landscaping. 10. Installation of shade canopy footings.
